6 Things To Know About LASIK
- Posted on: Jan 15 2021
Have you been wearing glasses or contacts for years? Have you recently been wondering what life would be like if you didn’t have to bother with them? If so, it is good to know you have some options that involve freedom from both. One of these is LASIK, a popular and safe procedure. You no doubt have questions; here are six things you should know about LASIK!
- It is fast.
Of course, every procedure is different, but it typically only takes around 30 minutes, or 15 minutes per eye.
- Not everyone can have LASIK.
It is not suitable for people with very poor vision or very thin corneas. However, if your doctor tells you that LASIK isn’t right for you, another correction procedure may be.
- You may still need reading glasses.
For some patients, LASIK does not totally eliminate the need for glasses, reading glasses in particular. And, although you may not need reading glasses now, you may still need them in the future, even after LASIK.
- You’ll wish you had done it sooner.
You’ll be surprised to find out how nice life is without having to mess with glasses or contacts. Traveling, enjoying sports, even just hanging out with loved ones can be more enjoyable when you don’t have to worry about keeping track of glasses or losing a contact lens.
- Technology has come a long way since the first eye surgery procedures.
Years and years ago, corrective eye procedures would use blades, which is enough to make anyone nervous! However, the technology has moved forward to using lasers, which are much less invasive (and scary).
- It is safe.
As with any procedure, there are risks – but LASIK is generally thought of as one of the safest procedures you can have done.
